Dear Maverick Families,
Our Home Reading program has begun and students have enjoyed taking books home (several nights a week) to read with their families that target their individual abilities and instructional needs. As a new school, our Home Reading program currently has a limited offering. In order to better meet the needs of our students, we would realistically need to invest $5000-$8000 towards purchasing a wider variety of engaging leveled books.
As an initiative from Parent Council to support our home reading program, we would like to offer families the opportunity to give the gift of reading this holiday season. Show your gratitude to our Janet Metcalfe staff by making a donation to the home reading program in their honour! When you make a donation of $5 or more, Parent Council will deliver a bookmark to the staff member of your choice sharing the message that you have given the gift of reading in their name.
Please note: All donations must be made through Waterloo Education Foundation Inc
To make a donation:
- Go to https://www.wrdsb.ca/wefi/
- Click “Donate Online”
- Select “Donate Now” and in the drop down menu for fund, select “Janet Metcalfe PS – 0242”
- In the message, please indicate your donation is for the Home Reading Program – Gift of Reading
- Then fill in your personal information to complete the donation
