Hello Janet Metcalfe Families,

We know this year has been a unique year, and we really miss having our parent community present in our school. But whether we are learning at school or learning from home, we are still a Maverick family! We want to stay connected with you, and have decided to create a work of art that all of our families can be a part of. It’s a way to show that even though we aren’t altogether, we are still a great community!

Next week, JME will be handing out wood carvings in the shape of people. We would love for each student to take one home, decorate it (e.g., markers, paint), and then return it to the school. Once we receive them all back, we will connect them like puzzle pieces, and mount them to the wall. It symbolizes that we ‘All Belong Together!”.

We hope you all participate, and enjoy painting them!

Pick Up:

We will need you all to stay safe when you come to pick up these puzzle pieces. Please wear a mask and stay socially distanced, following Public Health protocols are very important. You can come between the hours of 8:30-4pm, just buzz the front door and we will bring one out to you. If you have more than one student you can pick them all up at the same time.

  • Grades  Kindergarten and Grade 1 on Tuesday, May 25
  • Grades 2 & 3 & 4 on Wednesday, May 26
  • Grades 5 & 6 on Thursday, May 27
  • Grades 7 & 8 on Friday, May 28

Drop Off:

During May 31-June 3, we will have a drop box outside the front door. You can put your decorated wooden person in the box. When we have them all back we will mount them together and hang them up inside the school!

Our staff have already completed their puzzle pieces, check them out! A couple of tips to note… only one side will be visible, and please do not paint the edges of the pieces as it makes it difficult to join them together.

Thanks

Janet Hale, Karen Madsen
