As September approaches, we start to think more and more about how to keep our students not only safe – but also healthy!!  There is a great deal of research that supports the value of walking to school – (ex. https://www.utoronto.ca/news/why-walking-school-better-driving-your-kids ) and we would like to start the school year right….by making our first day a “Walk to School” event!!  We have attached a link to two maps for you.  The first one shows a number of sites where we will have local dignitaries, Board officials, staff members, University athletes, etc who will be waiting to walk to school with you.  If you must drive your child to school please take a look at the Traffic Flow map for a place on a side street that is a designated parking zone where you can safely drop off your child (or park your car and join them) and walk to one of the meeting points on the walking map!!  Let’s make this into a fun experience for our children and encourage them to develop walking groups with the other students and their families that you will meet at these designated points.

We welcome all families to come and walk with their children to celebrate the first day of this next step in their educational journey at Janet Metcalfe Public School!!
