As most of you are aware – the traffic issues around our school are creating some unsafe situations for our children.  It is important that we all work together to improve this situation!!! The following issues can be seen when I stand by the parking lot in the morning…

•people who are speeding while going past the school area

• people who are parking in places that are no parking zones-blocking safe passage for students and bus parking zones

•cars turning right in the centre of the road outside of the parking lot (they are crossing the crosswalk and blocking traffic while they do this)

•cars stopping in the middle of the road or roundabout and letting their children out of the car

•people crossing the road at a variety of places, not at the designated corners and crosswalks

•cars attempting to come into the parking lot and then blocking the sidewalk as they wait to back up

I know that it is frustrating not to have a parking lot that parents can use – but that is something that is beyond our control at this point.  There is parking on many of the side streets and there are paths that lead to the school grounds.  I acknowledge that with the snow it has made the usage of some of these paths more challenging.  The majority of our students are within walking distance of the school and the rest have the opportunity to ride the bus. Please help to keep our children safe and healthy and encourage your child to walk to school each day.

Please ensure that you only park in the childcare spots in the parking lot if you have a child in the childcare.
