Regardless of the shutdowns, Student Transportation Services wants to encourage families who are suddenly at home to use the time to coach pedestrian skills and maybe try cycling to a destination for the first time.

By registering for Spring into Spring, students become eligible to win a gift card to Indigo: https://t.co/O5SY5hS65O?amp=1.

Then, for families seeking help to determine a new and safer route (this is mostly for cycling), we have teams of cycling enthusiasts who actually cycle the route to determine the safest approach and who will offer tips or guidance for the trip. They pop a go-pro on their helmets and post videos to give the greater public a view into the route: http://cyclewr.ca/superpower/

The Discover Your Superpower campaign may also offer cycling workshops depending on when and how we may meet with more people between now and the end of June…so stay tuned for that.

Finally, the Brain Injury Association of Waterloo Wellington’s Lidz on Kidz project is back with helmets for kids who cannot otherwise afford them. This event is happening on June 12, 2021 and families can register to pick one up here: https://biawwlidzonkidz.com/contact-us

Student Transportation Services will be tracking numbers of registrations for Spring into Spring from their office and will happily share them with all our partners so they can see how Janet Metcalfe has participated. In addition, a cycling video of the current commute might be an eye-opener. Participation is encouraged.
